Law school admissions is primarily a numbers game dictated by the LSAT and undergraduate GPA. Admissions committees use an "index score" that heavily weights these two factors to protect the school's US News ranking.

Soft Factors vs. Hard Numbers

While a compelling personal statement or military service can serve as a tiebreaker for candidates with identical stats, "soft factors" will rarely overcome a low LSAT/GPA combination at a T14 school.

Admissions operate on a rolling basis. Applying in September confers a massive statistical advantage over applying in February, as seats and scholarship funds deplete over the cycle.
